Trisha Muro

Trisha Muro was fortunate to attend the various programs at Space Camp four times when she was a teenager. She still remembers the simulators (the multi-axis trainer was her favorite!), the shuttle missions, and the IMAX movies that capped off each thrilling day. What could possibly be better than learning about the science of space…

Lisa DeVries

My name is Lisa DeVries and I attended Space Academy as a camper in 1990. I also worked as a counselor for Advanced Space Academy in 1998 and was inducted into the Space Camp Hall of Fame in 2008. I am currently supporting the Artemis program at the Kennedy Space Center. I work in Safety and more specifically in the Launch Control Center on the Safety Console. I will be on station in the Firing Room supporting the launch countdown when we launch Artemis II.

As my grandfather worked for NASA at JPL on the Explorer Satellite, I have always had a passion for space. I first went to Space Camp in the 6th grade. I loved it! I won the “Right Stuff” award. I then went to Space Academy in the 8th grade. After college, I realized I wanted to combine my love of both the sciences and space, so I joined the US Air Force and went to the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences where I got my medical degree. I then became a flight surgeon for the 99th Reconnaissance Squadron at Beale AFB where I truly got to combine space and medicine when I had to don the pressure suit for a flight in the U-2. Today, I am an emergency medicine physician and always think fondly of my Space Camp days which started the journey of where I am today.

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman notes that his journey started at Space Camp during an opening statement at his Senate Confirmation Hearing.

Amy Medina and Gretchen Green

Educator alum Aymette (Amy) Medina Jorge and Space Camp alum Dr. Gretchen Green joined the 12th human flight for Blue Origin’s New Shepard program.

Amy Jorge attended the Space Camp Academy for Educators in 2024 and would be the first educator alumna to go to space. She is a high school and middle school STEM teacher at Odyssey Academy in Galveston, Texas.
