Yuri’s Night is the World’s Space Party. This is one of many parties launched around the world every year around April 12, in commemoration of Yuri Gagarin becoming the first human to space (April 12, 1961), and the launch of the first Space Shuttle (April 12, 1981). We celebrate the power of space to bring the world together. The concept of Yuri’s Night was first conceived by Space Camp Alumni, Loretta and George T. Whitesides (both camp alumni), and Trish Garner during the Space Generation Forum at the UNISPACE III Conference in 1999. We look forward to a fun-filled night celebrating space to bring the world together, to empower the greatest parts of who we are and give vision to where we are going.
